Producing electronic music since 2001 after hearing music albums from The Chemical Brothers , Orbital, Underworld to name but a few from the 90′s…This was all the motivation he needed and his musical tastes have grown and are still growing.

Influences come from a wide range of artists, there are a lot of things good with music at the moment, especially dance and electronic music. “Not a lot of people I know personally dig what I do, but since joining myspace, it’s good to know I’m not alone!” – Vela

Check out his profile, if you have got this far, hopefully you will have been enjoying a bit of what he is putting down, He would love to hear your comments, negative or positive!! :-)

This stuff is so new and remarkably different that you won’t believe your ears. This is with out a doubt the next up and comer on the Electronic music scene that is gonna just blow your mind. And all the tracks on the CD are superb. Sounds like your watching a movie well listening to his wonderful productions, and what a movie it turns out to be…one that you can’t turn off, but want to watch over and over again….. “TUNE”. ~Peilo

 Deadly Avenger (aka Damon Baxter)

Deadly Avenger

It was hard to choose just one track to showcase but I went with one of my faves. “Chevy Chases Hair“, lol funny title, but an unbeliveable subtle electronic breakbeat track…ahhhh…just sooooo smooth, perfect driving music :)

It’s midnight. Everything is quiet. The sound of owls compete for their space in the country soundscape with the creak of a 300 year old oak tree caressed by the wind. Filtering over the top like some kind of futuristic symphony orchestra the sonorous harmonies of weighty strings, floating over the electronic drums and ethereal vocals break through the calm. This is the sound of Deadly Avenger (aka Damon Baxter) hard at work in his studio, installed into his cottage in the Heart of the English countryside.

For the last three years Damon has been holed up in his country retreat hard at work on his new album, the follow up to the cult classic album “Deep Red”, which featured “We Took Pelham”, “Punisher” and “Black Sun”. Due for release in 2008, “Blossoms & Blood”, his stunning 2nd opus, is going to prove that it was truly worth the wait…

“The backdrop of my studio, looking out onto rolling fields inspires me”, says Damon. “Film music is what I love most and having such a dramatic outlook soaks into my work.”

Damon’s love for all things cinematic is evident all the way through his new recording. The storming opener “We Took Vegas” is a case in point and is influenced by Damon’s love of the epic audio/visual feast witnessed at the beginning of “Star Wars” (possibly the finest opening scenes in movie history!) while other tracks such as “Mal Paso Pt II”, “The Reveal” and the title track showcase his talent for juxtaposing sweeping, epic string parts with electro breaks. Another aspect of the Deadly Avenger sound can be heard in “Invincible”, “Chevy Chases Hair” and “Gekko” which reveal a techno influence that ups the tempo, but retain his skill for harmony and melody. There are also some shining examples of leftfield down-tempo tracks in “Sequola”, “Suite from Near To Me”, “Exit” and “Everyday is Valentine”, while some tracks combine all of these elements with stunning results – “The Wraith”, “800 Heroes” and “Midgets for Seven”.

“The thing I like most about film music is that there are no boundaries. You can team up lush orchestral pads with heavy industrial bass and it works!”

It’s clear the music on this album is inspired by Damon’s admiration of the great film composers (such as John Williams, Lalo Schifrin and the mind blowing Luchi DeJesus!). But his love affair with hip-hop/electro breaks, Americana, synthpop, electronica, and soundtrack selections by the likes of Tarantino are all evident too. It’s this melting pot of influences that are fused to create an incredible album and a deep appreciation of cinematic sounds.

Tracks from his first album have been used in a number of TV, trailers and film productions including Lord of The Rings, Scary Movie 3, Human Traffic and The Calcium Kid and the new album is sure to follow that trend. There has already been excitement from the synch world in “Blossoms & Blood” resulting in uses in “C.S.I. New York”, the main BBC theme for coverage of The Commonwealth Games, Sky/Fox Sports, and a recent Sky TV advertising campaign. Deadly’s music is also used in “Beyond The Rave” – a brand new production from the masters of UK horror, Hammer Films. Damon has also just started work on scoring a full-length movie (music to picture).

Citybeatradio.net a WEB 2.0 Interactive Music Community

Photobucket

A cool new site I happened to stumble upon almost by accident. ~Peilo

Well I was actually sent a link from a cool new friend on MySpace. I was as usual, just cruising around myspace looking for some cool new music, and happen to stumble upon ibubb or a one “Dj Fable”. Now normally I don’t stop and become so interested. First she has amazing taste in muisc which was the first draw. But an amazing MySpace layout as well, its phenomonal. Check it out and listen to the show from either http://myspace.com/ibubb or http://citybeatradio.net

The MySpace page actually broadcasts live the show from Citybeat directly to the profile. So far what I have come to know is she is full-time Mother, DJ, Radio Host for Citybeatradio which she also happens to own and run. Did I mention she has the most delicious voice :-)

24 hours music, fully interactive (WEB 2.0) during the live shows, listener requests, a shoutbox for guest interaction , a community forum to talk and get to know listeners , as well as section to promote your mixes. Just a whole lot of fun and many opportunities for promotion of one’s self and music. Did I mention the music’s commercial FREE.

This is one site you need to check out and join, register, meet some new people listen to great music, hope to see you there :)

Well long story short I have submitted a 2 hour mix in consideration for a weekly residency to be aired on citybeatradio Below is hour 1. ~ Peilo

Renfro

“A new MySpace friend request, worth accepting.”

Renfro, a refreshing sound that breaks the mold from the norm, with their “Pop, Click, Fizz” style, they bring an eclectic elctronic sound together with an experimental  folk indie, influence. Check them out for yourself. ~Peilo

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING~

“A collection of discoveries and manipulations that create a collage of sounds that delicately encases the listener. Renfro meld eclectic elements that produce dreamy, serene down-tempo with a multitude of components to absorb. The result is seemingly complex and layered sounds that also have simplicity. One spin of the album offers an airy, atmospheric vibe but subsequent listens have you deconstructing each individual noise, glitch and blip….comparable to the more subtle elements used on Thom Yorke’s solo release, “The Eraser”. Combine that with the gentle vocals of Branney and you have distinctive, innovative, serene electronic music that explores the poetic.” (Ashley Hampson in Exclaim! Magazine)

“Delicately bruised sensitive signatures coaxed to life by twinklesome snow-globe affected electronics and softly sighed deliveries… sweetly beguiling yet hurting and distant. Arrestingly fragile….is going to break a fair few hearts once it escapes on to the more clued up hi-fi’s of the record buying community” (Losing Today – The Indie Music Magazine)

Renfro
POPS, CLICKS & MELTED CIRCUITS
Renfro are Atom and Tim. Tim sings the songs and Atom finds sounds. Together they manipulate brightly coloured samplers and also write words. This seems to work well.Renfro like the avant-garde, but often find themselves wanting to sing along too. They enjoy Low and Phoenix as much as they do Tod Dockstader and Christian Fennesz, so their idea is to meld experimental musical techniques with dream-pop songwriting.Renfro are based in East London, UK.They make music from electronic fragments. They formed in late 2005, born from a mutual love of the electronic music – Lali Puna, Oval, Matmos, Jan Jelinek, Paul Wirkus – as well as the voices of Robert Wyatt, Green Gartside, Solveig Slettehjell and Nina Persson.Very soon afterwards, whilst poking microphones at elephant seals in Santa Cruz, Ca., they wondered why pop music couldn’t be made using a soundtrack of field recordings and electro-acoustic manipulations. Those same elephant seals ended up joining a sonic cast that includes malfunctioning leads, rustling trees, tapped teeth, satellite signals, distortion bursts, and burning plastic (a credit card sacrifice). The end results see lushly layered vocals residing amongst twinkling tunes that float on a sea of pops, clicks and melted circuits. A kind of electronic-alternative-gospel-folk for the 21st Century.Sometimes it’s melancholy, and sometimes it chuckles quietly in the corner.Words are important to renfro, and they try to remain optimistic in the face of the political and social realities of modern life.Modernity is a tough gig, after all. Renfro like to explore the poetics of isolation, difference and collapse. For guidance they binge on film, literature and assorted junk culture.Renfro want to make music that embraces the future, rather than bathing in nostalgia for a retro-electro past. They believe you can, and should, make pop songs from the sound of technology breaking down.
